When Boeing, Lockheed Martin, or Raytheon issues a Model-Based Definition (MBD)mandate to its Tier 2 supply chain, it does not send a press release. It sends a supplier quality notice. And the 200 small and mid-size manufacturers on the receiving end of that notice suddenly have a problem they have never had before — and no internal capability to solve it.
